In the following we introduce three typical types of people that can be found in any office. We show how they deal differently with noise and what consequences it has for the office and the whole company.
The three types are
We bring these charactersto life with three persons:
It is incredibly important to take measures for each type of person. Nothing is worse than assuming that no one in the office has a problem with noise because you yourself do not, or because they are only in OpenSpace from time to time. Therefore, the types of people will now be described in more detail. We explain what each person needs and how to satisfy all.
Martin is a salesman. He passionately convinces his clients through phone calls. Since he puts his heart and soul into his work, he gestures wildly during his telephone calls and sometimes gets a little louder, very much to the annoyance of Amelie and her colleagues. They get annoyed and give Martin disapproving looks. Martin has already been asked several times by other employees to keep his voice down. Now Martin does not feel comfortable during his conversations. He has a queasy feeling and does not dare to completely be himself. But the suppressed voice and lack of passion has its effect: customers are not as enthusiastic and the rate of sales is falling. Martin is desperate. What should he do?
Amelie is a programmer. She needs to concentrate fully on her work and doesn't like to be distracted. But one person in the office does that quite often: Martin, the salesman. Amelie does not what to do. All she can do is to disapprovingly look at Martin to get her point across. The glances don't kill him, but they do silence him from time to time. However, the silence doesn't last long: The phone rings again and Martin enthusiastically says: "Hello, Martin here, how can I help?" Amelie is not happy about this, because she loses focus constantly. She takes longer and makes more mistakes.
Jonas is the team leader and a talented organizer. He coordinates projects and keeps everything in order. Communication with the whole team is crucial. But he doesn't like to talk in an open-plan office, as then he distracts everyone from work and usually gets an angry look from Amelie. That's why Jonas likes to hold meetings in the conference rooms instead. But these are often full and must be reserved in advance. For a two-minute conversation Jonas finds the effort simply too great. His solution: In order not to disturb anyone, he uses e-mails. A study conducted by the renowned Harvard University has proven that personal communication in an open-plan office is down 70%. E-mail and SMS are used more and more frequently. (1) The consequences: Decisions now take much longer and Jonas misses more deadlines. It cannot go on like this.
But there was a change in the office of the three. They now have phone booths and meeting pods from QuietOffice. In these office pods, telephone calls and meetings can be held without creating any noise in the office itself, as it is simply absorbed by the phone booths.
Martin's sales quota has shot to new heights. When he has an important phone call, he simply goes to the phone booth (QuietOffice V1). There he can finally convince his customers in passionare discussion. And the best thing: Nobody in the office is distracted by his "noise".
Amelie can now finally pay full attention to her programming work. She works faster and does not make annoying mistakes as often anymore. When she has a tricky task she also goes to work in the phone booth (QuietOfficeV1) for a "focus session", as it is really quiet and ideal for concentration in there.
Jonas has his projects fully under control again. He no longer has a guilty conscience, as he no longer distracts anyone. He simply meets with his co-workers in the meeting pod (QuietOffice V2) and discusses everything that is important in peace and quiet, without causing distractions for anyone.
In summary, everyone benefits from a more peaceful and quiet office. The cooperation in the team is increased and there is less tension because nobody is constantly getting disturbed. It is important to offer each individual person space. QuietOffice creates this space through ingenious phone booths.
